How much sleep do kids need?

Getting enough sleep is important for children's physical and mental health. The amount of sleep a child needs varies depending on their age, but in general, children should get between 9-11 hours of sleep per night. Adequate sleep can help support a child's growth and development, and can improve their mood, behavior, and ability to learn.

However, many children don't get enough sleep. Common causes of sleep problems in children include irregular sleep schedules, caffeine intake, and electronic device use before bed. To help your child get enough sleep, try to establish a regular bedtime routine, and make sure their bedroom is quiet, dark, and cool. Avoid letting your child have caffeine or use electronic devices before bed, and encourage them to engage in relaxing activities before bed, such as reading or listening to soft music.

Babies, children, and teens need significantly more sleep than adults to support their rapid mental and physical development. Most parents know that growing kids need good sleep, but many don't know just how many hours kids require, and what the impact can be of missing as little as 30 to 60 minutes of sleep time.

  • Toddlers : 11-14hrs
