Fatigue Management Program

What is fatigue impairment?

Fatigue impairment occurs when inadequate rest or poor-quality sleep reduces both physical and mental capabilities. For transport drivers, this is especially critical, as it leads to slower reaction times, impaired decision-making, and decreased alertness—factors that significantly raise the risk of accidents and costly errors on the road. Common symptoms in drivers include frequent yawning, heavy eyelids, difficulty concentrating, blurred vision, drifting between lanes, irritability, and micro-sleeps. Recognizing and managing these symptoms is crucial to safety and operational efficiency. Transport Canada heavily recommends implementing a fatigue management program to address these risks, ensuring drivers are well-rested and fit for duty. By doing so, companies can enhance driver safety, reduce accidents, and comply with industry standards for fatigue prevention.

Our solution

Our comprehensive Fatigue Management Program (FMP) is designed to support transport drivers in staying safe and alert on the road. The program includes educational seminars, interactive online modules that educate drivers on the dangers of fatigue, strategies for managing it, and how to comply with hours of service regulations. Drivers also benefit from convenient fatigue screening and home-based sleep testing, which can be conducted while they are on the road with minimal disruption to their schedules. Testing results and personalized treatment plans are delivered quickly, allowing for efficient, confidential care. This program equips transport drivers with the knowledge and tools to manage fatigue effectively, ensuring safer journeys and more efficient operations.
